Looking at album covers of artists who's music genre is similar to ours I have chose 4 album covers from Ben Howard, Mumford and Sons, James Morrison and Tom Odell.
Ben Howard uses neutral colours and the image of water which looks rather calming. From this you can see that the music wouldn't necessarily be heavy rock as the cover sets a calm mood therefore it will relate to the music on the album.
Mumford and Sons cover looks rather busy in the background but with the camera focusimg on the 4 men sat down on a bench in front. It focuses on these 4 men who looked well dressed and not belonging/fitting in with whats going on.
Tom Odells cover of Long Way Down looks very basic, with the camera focused on Tom using a medium shot and using macro so the man(Tom) in the image stands out form the background making him the important image in the photo.
James Morrison's album cover of 'Man in the mirror' consists of James stood on a balcony with a blurry landscape. This again is focusing on the artist. The colours used for the cover are bright and vibrant which could link to the music as from the image/ colours used it sets a tone/theme.
Magazine Ads
The album covers for Tom Odells 'Long Way Down' and Ben Howards 'Every Kingdom' are very similar to the magazine ads they produced (images below). They kept the theme, text and neutral colours and kept it basic matching their cd covers.
