Tom Odell - Another Love
Tom Odell has created 2 videos for his song 'Another Love'. A music video and a short film. I have chosen to analysis the short film for this song as the clip/song relates well to our chosen song and we can use ideas from this to help us when it comes to shooting our music video.
In this video is shows a man (Tom) walking around looking for someone. It may look rather dull and boring and nothing really jumps at you but the song tells a story and engages the viewer from the words even though its just a man walking around which leads you watching the rest curious of what is going to happen.
It goes from Tom walking around to a close up shot of a woman's face at eye level showing her expression as the pianos/vocals start to play louder. This is shows a build up to a part of the song which is key. The camera is hand held throughout most of the song to give it a more 'human feel'.

The songs tempo stays the same from this point onwards. As the tempo rapidly increases at that point, so does the action in the clip from a man just walking along to him and a woman running shown below this is called a two action shot.

Mumford & Sons - Babel
Throughout this music video form Mumford and Sons the camera is always panning the room. The camera is set at black and white and rotates round in different rooms that are so it looks like one long room that doesn't end. It pans round showing each band member and instuments being played. The camera is probably placed on a tripod to keep the pan at a straight pan angle.
Just over halfway through the song when the instrumenst velocity has changed and theres a gentle feel the camera is still panning however just to the band member singing as the some instrumernts have stopped playing. As more of the instruments start playing the camera pans round to show them. The camera is at a worms angle looking up and the band playing, this changes throughout the clip from worm angle to low angle and eye level.

Ben Howard - Keep Your Head Up
From the guitar playing the sunset and by using bubbles the first 30 seconds of the video is very relaxing/calming. Many camera techniquies are used, eye level angle, close up, macro, pan etc. From watching this music video the clips effects such as the contract and saturation are the effects that we are looking for when it comes to making our video.
The lyrics in the song also relate to whats going on in the video. The lyrics mention sun, darkness, skin, wind of all which the camera shows. For instance from the words 'and my skin' the camera shows his feet in water and 'sun so hot' with a clip of the sun.

Of Monsters and Men - Mountain Sound
For our music video we liked the idea of showing clips of our chosen artist at a gig/ recording studio to show them singing. In Of Monsters and Men's song ' Mountain Sound' they use this technique of them performing at a festival. Guitars are a common in indie songs and are used a lot. This instrument is shown in this video. The camera shots from the crowd looking up at the band performing by using a worm angle and also eye level when it shows the crowd.
From analysing this videos it has helped me to see what camera techniques, what to film and effects of which different indie artists use to create a music video of which relates to their song/theme. I can now get some ideas together of what our video will look like and how it will come together.
