EVALUATION QUESTION 2

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

We decided to keep our digipak and magazine ad as basic as we could yet get the information needed across to our target audience. We used the same idea as Tom Odell and Ben Howard and kept out post and album cover similar to one another as they were our key inspirations.
The album cover (the first image) for Come and go we use bold colours such as the white text and red background to show the artists name and kept the important information bold. There is synergy between our digipak and music video. Both have a black and white effect on the shots, use the artist of the track and similarities between the album cover and poster.
We kept the image black and white of which is in the music video but blurred the image to create a different effect. We then took a 'mugshot' like image of our artist and used these 3 images in our digipak and to make sure we used synergy kept the images black and white.
We also created a slide of which lyrics to the song are on still keeping the image relating to the music video and used bold white text so the lyrics stood out and were readable. The back of the digipak . This is a typical convention for indie songs/artists to use the images/font over again from their music video to their digipak. Artists such Ben Howard, Tom Odell and even bigger artists such as Rihanna and Katy Perry use this in a lot of their own music videos/albums.
Our target audience can also relate the music video to the digipak as we used some of the shots from the music video and used them on the magazine ad/album cover showing the continuity we used. This means that if an artists creates a music video and the audience watch it, if the album cover is created in a similar way the audience are interested as it matches the visuals they have seen and can relate to it and then finally purchase the album.
