EVALUATION QUESTION 3

What have you learned from audience feedback?

Audience feedback is key to almost any business/ artists etc as it can help make profits. By not using audience feedback it could decrease the amount of people who are interested in the product and means it is hard to improve on the product to target the right audience.

Before we gathered any audience feedback we researched into Foulcaults's discourse theory on audience feedback. Foulcault said that 'elusive fields of reality are transformed into discrete objects' which means that we had to give out questionnaires and interview those of which were out specific target audience

So we started with audience feedback by using a questionnaire and giving these out to our target audience ages 16-18 both male and female. Using those answers to help us choose the right artists to follow, from here we chose the song "Come and Go' by C.O.
Now we had our song we played the song off of SoundCloud to our target audience to listen and analyse.
We asked them 3 questions, what genre they thought the song was. what were their first impressions and what did they think the music video would be like. This then gave us a clear structure as we got the results we were hoping for to create our own indie music video.

As we created out music video we kept asking our target audience what they thought along the way so the final product would be well suited.
The three issues that arose in the makings of video were :
. the lip/hand syncing between the artists singing and playing the guitar could be more precise
. the girl in the video should have more time on the screen
. not all the shots were fully desaturated, and could look better in black and white

We took this feedback on board and started continuing to edit our music video to the audiences standard.

From here we filmed and edited our video keeping in mind what the target audience wanted in a indie folk video and created what we thought suited the genre well. We then showed out edited music video to members of the audience and asked them 6 questions:

.What they thought of the video
.How could we improve it
.Did they understand the storyline
.Did they recognise any of the places featured
.What artists did it remind them of
.What genre they thought it fell in

The feedback we received overall was mostly positive and extremely helpful right through until the end of producing out music video and was key to make the video a success.
